DAY 18 - Testimony Resumes In High-Profile Karen Read Murder Trial

DEDHAM - Testimony in the high-profile Karen Read murder trial resumed on Thursday with Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Glen Quadros taking the stand. Quadros testified about the investigation into the January 2022 death of Boston police officer John O'Keefe.

Prosecutors allege that Read, who is accused of driving drunk, struck O'Keefe with her car and then left him to die. Read has pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, and leaving the scene of an accident after causing death.

During his testimony, Quadros described the scene of the crash, which occurred on January 25, 2022, on Seaver Street in Boston. Quadros said that he observed damage to Read's car, which was consistent with the damage to O'Keefe's body.

Quadros also testified that Read's blood alcohol content was .19 at the time of the crash, which is more than twice the legal limit. He said that Read admitted to drinking alcohol before driving.

The trial is expected to continue for several more weeks. The jury will hear from additional witnesses, including medical experts and accident reconstruction specialists.
